A few weeks ago, our little family took a Carnival cruise out of New Orleans to Cozumel. As I was looking through all the photos yesterday, I decided the best way to share a bit about our vacation was to break it up into two separate posts. So today, I’m starting with our excursion stop to the private island of Isla la Pasión.

We arrived there via a motorized catamaran and overall, I thought the ride was fine…a little hot, but what can you expect in July in Mexico, right? The ride was about 40 minutes from where our cruise ship was docked and the kids and I enjoyed seeing all the colorful buildings and places along the waterway.

Take me to the water…

Once we got closer to the island, the water became crystal clear and beautiful, you guys. I was mesmerized by it! Living here in the gulf south area of the US, our beaches just don’t look like that. Ha!

They had everything set up for us when we arrived with food, drinks and places to lounge with hammocks everywhere, including in the water, itself. Honestly, my biggest beef about the whole excursion was that it just wasn’t quite long enough. I was bummed that there wasn’t more time to just relax and enjoy the scenery. But, our boys love the beach, so they had a great time getting in the water and playing in all the kid-friendly setups they had for them.

Although the time there seemed to fly by, we were all worn out by the time we made the 40 minute trek back to the ship and some of us were a bit on the cranky side. Ha!

When we were planning for this cruise and going through the list of excursions available, we had to keep our boys in mind and what they might enjoy most….’cause if the kiddos are complaining and tired, that’s a recipe for disaster for this mom and dad, amiright?! In the end, I definitely think the Isla la Pasión option was the right choice for us. Overall I enjoyed our time there and would recommend it if you’re planning on a Carnival cruise to Cozumel any time soon.
