I stumbled on this two minute video clip several months back and it has really resonated with me. I find myself going back to listen to it over and over again regularly. It pretty much sums up exactly how I feel about my blogging journey.
I think we all intuitively know that as you begin something, you’re not going to put out your very best work right off the bat. It takes time. Many hours of repeating the process, tweaking what works, feeling like you’re representing yourself in a true and authentic way.
As the clip describes, the foundation is there. It’s IN you. It just needs to be honed and fleshed out, so to speak.

Ask any close friend of mine and they’ll let you know right away that I am my VERY own worst critic. Things are never ‘perfect enough’ for my liking. Up until recently when a friend pointed it out, I did not realize just how often I vocalize those kinds of thoughts aloud. Yikes.
That’s damaging, friends.
I’m now working really hard to catch those words before they come out, because the words we speak aloud about ourselves have such power over us. When you hear something long enough you kinda start to believe it, ya know?
God gives us all special gifts to use for His glory and with all of my heart, I honestly just want to be used for His Kingdom’s purpose, in whatever way that’s to be. I pray daily that I’m walking in obedience in that area of my life.

Are you too hard on yourself? Do you find yourself constantly speaking about your perceived flaws and how you’re not as good/pretty/talented/creative, etc. as the next girl?
I say, let’s give ourselves some grace and remember that (1) we are on the way to who we are to become and (2) God has us in this season for a purposeful reason and He will guide each and every one of us down the path He has planned for us if we seek and trust and in Him.

Back to the grind…
Anyway, the girls and I are back from Rosemary Beach and man, did we have an AMAZING time together!! I was so sad to see the week end. We stayed up way too late chit chatting, took WAY too many photos (blogger problems) and laughed more than I have done in a very long time. I tear up just thinking about it. Many moons ago I prayed for God to put some girls in my life that just ‘got me’ and understood who I was. Well, I definitely got it with these ladies and it makes me so grateful every day!
I pray you have great friends in your life that build you up and make you aware of how God sees you. It’s just an amazing thing!

Seriously gorgeous as always!! I often struggle with being my own worst critic and it took my husband and mom pointing it out for me to realize just how often I was being incessantly hard on myself! Always a struggle! But take it from me… You are absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!! Nothing at all to be hard on if you ask me!! 🙂
That one shoulder top is so cute! Love it! It is so important to just be yourself. There is no need to try to be someone else.

oh my goodness, you have no idea how badly i needed to read this post today. so often i get on my own case for not doing as well as i hoped i would. how crazy am i to expect to live up to my own expectations?! it sure is a good thing God doesn’t expect that of me. it’s so nice to know that He is proud of my efforts no matter what!

Gorgeous! Love this look! We can all be our own worst critic from time to time but realizing we are doing the best we can and learning along the way is what matters!
